Amarillo, Texas

Finding that sweet spot between city life and peaceful suburbs is a must when you want to have a happy retirement. Hopefully, Amarillo, Texas, offers you just that. This is a mid-sized city, vibrant and full of life but without the chaos of a big city. What can be better than that?

It has a population of over 200,000 people, which means that the sense of community and the convenience of a smaller city are both there. Here you’ll find everything you need, from local restaurants and shops to cultural attractions and healthcare services, all within easy reach.

But probably one of the best things for retirees is the cost of living. As of November 2024, the average home price in Amarillo is around $232,000. Compared to the cost in other US cities, this is far lower, which can only mean more money for you.
